Project Pinterest #2: Mod Podge Shoes

Is it just me or is everybody else so excited about Sandee's Project Pinterest being hosted?
I know I've already submitted an entry for this month, but I just couldn't resist it when I saw this on pinterest. I was instantly one of those "make.now" moments! I had everything I needed to turn my boring old flats from crappy to happy!
So may I introduce you to *drumroll* my Red Polka Dot Shoes:

This was the pair I saw on pinterest:

So what did I do? I just gave my flats a good wipe with a damp cloth to make sure everything's clean. Then I applied a generous amount of mod podge and started covering my shoes with pretty polka dot fabric.
I left it over night to dry and voila! A whimsy pair of flats perfect for summer. :)

For a step by step tutorial follow this link.

Do you know what else gives me a bonus? I've googled "Red polka dot flats" and found this:
Close enough? Guess how much this pair is? £15.99 ! Wowza!
This is the link to the shop.
So that totally makes this a good project, no?

Don't forget to hope on over at Sandee's and check out what everyone else is doing. :)

A side note for my Egyptian friends: If you're asking what "Mod Podge" is, it's just "غراء أبيض شفاف". That's what you say to the guy at the paint shop if you want to buy some. :D

Have an extra crafty day!

    1. I know right? :D I'm looking for a picture of me wearing that dress now and I'll add it as soon as I find it! It was very easy transforming those shoes into something cute, it's not really about me it's just easy breezy like that! lol

I've seen a couple of posts on your blog and Kay's too. I think WOYWW would be the perfect way to make new friends. I'll try to figure out what that is about and link up on the 4th of July. ;)

Thank you for hosting such a great party.

  4. Hi Roudi,

Very cool!!! I've seen this on pinterest and didn't pin it -- now I'm thinking maybe I should. Can you imagine two different fabrics for sneakers!?! I love how your shoes came out.

    Hugs,
    Kay

    1. Oh! It's such a cool idea that I just had to try my hand at it! Personally I wouldn't wear mismatched sneakers, but if it's say plain red on one and red & white stripes on the other I think it would look pretty hippy, no?

      Kisses. ♥

  8. Hi Raoudi
    MSA your crafts are beautiful!
I was looking for mod podge and gel medium to do a photo transfer to wood, but I couldn't find it at all :(
would you advise me on where to find it in Egypt? I went to Samir & Aly but they didn't know it and I couldn't describe it well :(
    Your help is much appreciated.
