Mixed media-- She Art Girl

I'm so excited about today's post! May I introduce to you (drumroll) my very first "She" mixed media piece.

I've been longing to try my hand at mixed media and I thought my new art journal was just the right place.

Sure enough, it was awesome. I had so much fun picking a texture after another and tried so hard to stick to a specific palette, basically browns and beige moving to black and white.

 (She knew she was part of something beautiful)

It all started with this:

 A doily that I was playing around with and which accidentally turned into a dress! lol

No, I actually wanted to make some sort of a dress for my She girl rather than the common outfits cut out of different patterned paper.

And I have to say it turned out pretty nice. I had to trim a bit of the bodice though, but it's no big deal.

I even faked calligraphy, doesn't that give me some extra bonus? You can find an awesome tutorial of how to, ahem, fake calligraphy over here.

The background is simply some shredded paper from a vintage book painted over in acrylics and some lace.

Now I take my journal with me everywhere and show everyone my latest creation. I just love her!

 Mixed media is such a fun art to try, and it sure is the door to lots of inspiration and many journal pages to come.
