DIY Journal {2011}

Can you believe it's 12th of December today? Time's flying by so fast!
I mean, it feels like the first day of 2011 was just the other day, no? Well anyway, I'm thrilled this year's going to end, it's been an eventful year and not all of them were fortunate actually. :(
I can list a few if you insist!
The year started out with a terrorist attack on a church on Christmas eve (that was where I live).
We've had 4 revolutions, Usama Bin Laden and Ghaddafi killed, 2 tsunamis and earthquakes, volcanos that lead to stopping planes from getting people home, South Sudan becoming a nation, Australian flooding, tornadoes in the state, Mubarak in the court.. is that enough? lol

But hey, besides the unfortunate events, there's always always good things that happened, which I've stated in my little journal, just to remind myself that whenever God wants us to go though something, there's always a lesson learned and something to be grateful for.
The biggest evidence for this is that I've managed to find 365 things that I'm thankful for in 2011, and I've decided to make this journal out of my big stash of paper scraps and cardstock.
I'll leave you with some pictures of the journal now. :)

Here's the cover. Some words are cut from paper, others I've painted directly to the cover.

The side, stuffed with stuff. (does that make any sense? lol )

 First page. :)

Well this photograph isn't really from this year (duh! look at me! ) But this is one of the rare photos that me and my brother are both smiling in!
A blank page with corners ready for a photo to be fixed.

An envelope page for those precious words. ♥ I love you Sama.

Another page embellished with shells from last summer, I'm going to write about our journey here. :)
(Ahem, sorry had to blur other page! :P )

My favorite! I'm filling this page on Christmas eve. ^^ Oh, and remember this little snowman from last post? I decided his suitable place would be inside my journal!

And of course, I'm grateful for our Egyptian revolution. This one that taught us how to say "ENOUGH!" in a time where speaking was forbidden.

Those are just some of my favorite pages from the journal, there's lots more. :)
I hope this inspires you to make your very own journal just in time for 2012.
Let's hope it would be a better year. :)

  3. Aloha from Hawaii! We often forget to say "thank you" or "you're welcome" but your journal reminds everyone to extend simple courtesies to themselves and others. I will write a word of gratitude in my calendar everyday starting now so I will be in the habit for the new year. Mahalo (Hawaiian for thank you).

    Oh hi there!
Thank you so much for your sweet comment, it really made my day. :)
It would sure be awesome if you make a habit of giving thanks everyday for a whole year.
A'ole pilikia (that's supposed to be "you're welcome" in Hawaiian! lol)

    Much love. ♥
